Los Angeles Fans Show Crazy Love To All Local Teams

When it comes to sports fans, one would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated, hardcore fan contingent than those that support teams coming out of Los Angeles. This could have something to do with the fact that Los Angelinos tend to be very dedicated in supporting anything that has to do with L.A., similar to how New Yorkers are about their town. Or, it could be that because there are so many sports teams in L.A., fans dont need to go elsewhere to get involved in their favorite sport.

From the Los Angeles Avengers, a stadium football team, to the Los Angeles Galaxy, a soccer team that is perhaps most famous these days for bringing British sensation David Beckham stateside, there are so many teams, it can be hard to choose which one you like best.

The three major sports basketball, football and baseball certainly have a major presence in the L.A. area. When it comes to Major League Baseball (MLB), L.A. residents show major support for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are hometown favorites and the current National League West champions.

For NBA fans, loyalties are split between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the Lakers franchise has had more star appeal for some time, with current and past rosters having included the likes of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille ONeil, Jerry West and many others. In fact, during the teams tenure in L.A., they have brought home 10 NBA championships.

Fans of the WNBA can also delight in the fact that they have a hometown team as well: the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks is one of the original NBA teams and is considered to be the sister team of the Lakers. Lisa Leslie is the Sparks standout player, having led the team since its inception in 1997 until her retirement at the end of the 2009 season.

Hockey fans also have their place in L.A. with their beloved Los Angeles Kings hockey team. The Kings are well received by L.A. fans, even though the team has not seem a great deal of success in their history. The high point in the franchises history was in the early 90s, when they had a shot in the Stanley Cup Finals, which they lost to the Montreal Canadiens.

It s a lot of fun to go to a game when you re visiting Los Angeles. If you have a friend who lives in L.A. and you plan on going to L.A. to visit him or her, consider buying a pair of tickets to a Los Angeles pro team online in advance of your trip, get the tickets mailed right to your door before you leave, and take your buddy while in L.A. Maybe you ll see a movie star in the crowd!

Despite the sheer number of teams, in most instances, L.A. fans dont choose between them and they show love to all of their teams, no matter how the season might be going. This is one of the best parts about being an L.A. sports fan because everyone around you feels the same way L.A. fans carry the same torch for their hometown teams, cheering with every win and feeling the pain of every loss.
